UCC2819A BiCMOS power factor pre-regulator

The UCC2819A/UCC3819A provides all the features necessary for the active power factor correction preconditioner. The controller realizes that by shaping the AC input current waveform, it corresponds to the AC input line voltage and the power factor is close. The average current mode control maintains a stable, low-distortion sinusoidal current.

Designed in Texas Instruments' BiCMOS process, UCC3819A offers new features such as low start-up current, reduced power consumption, overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout detection circuitry, and paralleling a leading modulation technology to reduce ripple current for high-capacity capacitors.

This UCC3819A allows the output voltage to be programmed at the in-phase input of the error amplifier.
