The AD5668 is a low power, 8-channel, 16-bit buffered voltage output DAC. The device operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply and is designed to be monotonic.
The AD5668 contains an on-chip reference with an internal gain of 2. The AD5668-1 contains a 1.25 V, 5 ppm/°C reference with a full-scale output range of 2.5 V. The AD5668-2, -3 contain a 2.5 V, 5 ppm/°C reference with a full-scale output range of 5 V. At power-up, the on-chip reference is turned off, allowing the use of an external reference. The internal reference is enabled by software writing.
A power-on reset circuit is included to ensure that the DAC output powers up to 0 V (AD5668-1, -2) or midscale (AD5668-3) and remains at this level until a valid write is performed. There is also an independent power-down feature for each channel, which reduces the power consumption of the device to 400 nA at 5 V in power-down mode and provides a software-selectable output load.
The active-low LDAC function allows all DAC outputs to be updated simultaneously, and the user can select which DAC channels to update at the same time. There is also an asynchronous/CLR function that updates to user programmable codes: zero-scale, midscale, or full-scale.
THE AD5668 FEATURES A VERSATILE 3-WIRE SERIAL INTERFACE CAPABLE OF OPERATING AT CLOCK RATES UP TO 50 UMHz and is compatible with standard spi,® qspi™, microwire™, and dsp interface standards. It includes an on-chip precision output amplifier that enables rail-to-rail output swing.
