The AD5678 is a low power, octal, buffered voltage output DAC that integrates four 12-bit DACs and four 16-bit DACs in a single package, operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply, and is designed to be monotonic.
The AD5678 contains an on-chip reference with an internal gain of 2. The AD5678-1 contains a 1.25 V, 5 ppm/°C reference with a full-scale output of 2.5 V; The AD5678-2 contains a 2.5 V, 5 ppm/°C reference with a full-scale output of 5 V. At power-up, the on-chip reference is turned off, allowing the use of an external reference. The internal reference is enabled via software write.
A power-on reset circuit is included to ensure that the DAC output reaches 0 V and remains at this level until a valid write is performed. There is also a per-channel independent shutdown feature that reduces the power consumption of the device to 400 nA at 5 V in shutdown mode and provides a software-selectable output load.
exploitLDACThe function allows all DAC outputs to be updated simultaneously, and the user can select which DAC channels to update at the same time. There is also an asynchronyCLRfunction to zero all DACs to software-selectable codes: 0 V, midscale, or full-scale.
THE AD5678 FEATURES A VERSATILE 3-WIRE SERIAL INTERFACE CAPABLE OF OPERATING AT CLOCK RATES UP TO 50 UMHz and is compatible with standard spi,® qspi™, microwire™, and dsp interface standards. It includes an on-chip precision output amplifier that enables rail-to-rail output swing.
Product features
- Octal DACs (four 12-bit DACs and four 16-bit DACs).
- 1.25 V/2.5 V, 5 ppm/ºC on-chip reference.
- Available in 14-pin/16-pin TSSOP packages.
- Power-on reset to 0 V.
- Shutdown function. In power-down mode, the DAC typically consumes 200 nA at 3 V and 400 nA at 5 V.
