AD5930It supports programmable frequency sweep and output burst functionsWaveform generator。 The device uses embedded digital processing with enhanced frequency control to generate synthesized analog or digital frequency step waveforms. Using pre-programmed frequency profiles avoids continuous write cycles, freeing up important DSP/microcontroller resources. The waveform starts with a known phase and can be increased continuously, so the phase shift can be easily determined.
The AD5930 supports three modes of operation. In continuous output mode, the device outputs the desired frequency for a defined length of time and then steps to the next frequency. The length of time the device outputs a specific frequency can be pre-programmed and automatically incremented by the device, or externally incremented via the CTRL pin. In Burst Mode, the device outputs its frequency for a certain amount of time, then returns to the midscale for another predefined length of time, and then steps to the next frequency. In MSB mode, the device produces a digital output.
When programming the device, the user enters the start frequency, frequency stepping, number of increments, and the time interval at which the device will stay at each frequency point. The frequency profile can be initiated by switching the CTRL pin.
The device offers a variety of scanning methods. The frequencies step in triangulation mode to continuously scan the entire frequency range up and down, or up in saw-scan mode, but return to the initial frequency before initiating the scan again. In addition, a single frequency or burst can be generated without performing any scanning.
The AD5930 writes data through a 3-wire serial interface and is capable of operating at clock rates up to 40 MHz. The device operates from a 2.3 V to 5.5 V supply and has a standby function that shuts down unused parts of the device.
The AD5930 is available in a 20-lead TSSOP package.
