AD9911It's a complete direct
Digital synthesizer (DDS), operating speed up to 500 MSPS. Also included are three auxiliary DDS cores without dedicated DACs, which can be used to reduce spurs or test tone modulation.
The AD9911 contains an integrated high speed 10-bit DAC with excellent wideband and narrowband spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR). The device also provides a 32-bit frequency tuning word, 14-bit phase offset, and a 10-bit output range multiplier.
The AD9911 can perform up to 16 levels of modulation (FSK, PSK, ASK) over frequency, phase, or amplitude by applying data to the profile pin. In addition, the AD9911 supports linear sweeps of frequency, phase, or amplitude, making it suitable for applications such as radar and instrumentation.
The serial I/O ports of the AD9911 are available in a variety of configurations to provide great flexibility. The serial I/O ports provide SPI-compatible operation, which is effectively the same as the SPI operating mode of Analog Devices' earlier DDS products. Four data pins (SDIO_0:3) provide the flexibility to operate in four programmable serial I/O modes. The DAC output is referenced by the power supply and must be terminated to AVDD through a resistor or an AVDD center-tapped transformer. The DAC has its own programmable reference voltage and is capable of implementing different full-scale currents.
The DDS acts as a high-resolution divider, with REF_CLK as input and DAC as output. REF_CLK inputs can be driven directly or combined with an integrated REF_CLK multiplier (PLL) with speeds up to 500 MSPS. PLL multiplication coefficients can be programmed in integer steps from 4 to 20. The REF_CLK input also has an oscillator circuit that can use an external crystal as a REF_CLK source. The crystal must operate at a frequency range of 20 MHz to 30 MHz and can be used in combination with REF_CLK multipliers.
The AD9911 is available in a space-saving 56-lead LFCSP package. The DDS core (AVDD and DVDD pins) operates from a 1.8 V supply. The digital I/O interface (SPI) operates from a 3.3 V supply and requires a 3.3 V supply to pin (pin 49) labeled DVDD_I/O.
The AD9911 operates over the industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.
