illustrate
The LM2595 Series Step-Down Switching Regulator (BP) drives a monolithic IC with excellent line and load regulation with 1A load capability, providing all active functions. These devices are available with fixed output voltages in 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and adjustable output versions.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are easy to use, include internal frequency compensation †, and fix frequency oscillators.
The LM2595 series switches at 150 kHz so that smaller size will require filter assemblies with lower frequency switching regulators. Available in a standard 5-pin TO-220 package with several different bending options, as well as a 5-pin TO-263 surface mount package. Typically, the output voltage is less than 12V, the ambient temperature is less than 50 °C, and no heat sink is required.
The standard inductor series can be manufactured from several different manufacturers optimized using the LM2595 series. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies.
Other features include a guaranteed tolerance of 4% of the output voltage ± specified input voltage and output load, and a ± 15% of the oscillator frequency. External shutdown is included with a typical standby current of 85μA. Self-protection features include two-stage frequency reduction output switching and current limiting, complete protection under overtemperature shutdown fault conditions.
