The LM3421/23 is an LED driver for a versatile high-voltage N-channel MOSFET controller. They can be easily configured for buck, boost, buck-boost and SEPIC topologies. This flexibility, along with a 75V input voltage rating, makes the LM3421/23 ideal for the large family of illuminated LED applications.
The adjustable high-side current detection voltage allows the tightly regulated LED current to be as efficient as possible. The LM3421/23 uses Predictive Shutdown Time (Professional) Control, a combination of peak current mode control and predictive shutdown timer. This control approach simplifies loop compensation design while providing inherent input voltage feedforward compensation.
The LM3421/23 unit includes a high-voltage start-up regulator over a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 75V. The design of the internal PWM controller with adjustable switching frequency up to 2.0 MHz makes for a compact solution. Other features include "zero current" shutdown, analog dimming, PWM dimming, overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and thermal shutdown.
The LM3423 also includes LED output status flags, fault flags, programmable fault timers, and a logical input to select the polarity of the dimmed output driver.
LM3421Q1/23Q1 is AEC-Q100 Level 1 qualified and LM3421Q0/23Q0 AEC-Q100 Level 0 qualified.
