The Sin and Cos inputs of the converter support 3.15 V p-p ± 27% input signals. The Type II tracking loop can be used to track the input signal and convert the information at the Sin and Cos inputs into digital quantities corresponding to the input angle and rate. The maximum tracking rate is a function of the external clock frequency. The AD2S105 operates over a frequency range of 8.192 MHz ± 25% and has a maximum tracking rate of 1250 rps.
Product features
- Scale tracking conversion. The Type II tracking loop continuously outputs position data with no conversion delay. It also provides noise rejection, as well as harmonic distortion tolerance for reference and input signals.
- System failure detection. Fault detection circuitry can detect resolver signal loss, out-of-range input signal, input signal mismatch, or position-tracking loss.
- Input signal range. The Sin and CoS inputs support differential input voltages of 3.15 V p-p ± 27%.
- Programmable excitation frequency. The frequency selection pins (FS1 and FS2 pins) make it easy to set the excitation frequency to 10 kHz, 12 kHz, 15 kHz, or 20 kHz.
- 3x format location data. Absolute 12-bit angular position data can be accessed through a 12-bit parallel port or a 3-wire serial interface. The incremental encoder simulation uses the standard A-quad-B format and provides directional output.
- Digital rate output. A 12-bit, signed digital rate can be accessed through a 12-bit parallel port or a 3-wire serial interface.
