The AD584 is an 8-lead precision voltage reference that offers four commonly used output voltage options that are pin-programmable: 10.000 V, 7.500 V, 5.000 V, and 2.500 V. Other output voltages above, below, or between the four standard outputs can be obtained by adding external resistors. The input voltage can vary between 4.5 V and 30 V.
The device uses laser wafer trimming (LWT) technology to adjust pin-programmable output levels and temperature coefficients for the most flexible monolithic, high-precision reference.
In addition to the programmable output voltage, the AD584 provides a unique strobe pin through which the device can be turned on or off. When used as a power reference, the device can be powered off with a single low-power signal. In the off state, the current drawn by the device drops to approximately 100 μA. In the ON state, the total supply current is typically 750 μA, including the output buffer amplifier.
The AD584 is recommended as a reference for 8-, 10-, or 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that require an external precision reference. It is also ideal for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) up to 14-bit accuracy, whether successive approximation or integrated ADCs, and often outperforms standard stand-alone references.
AD584JandAD584Kis specified for operation from 0°C to +70°C and -55°C to +125°C for the AD584S and AD584T. All grades are packaged in sealed 8-pin TO-99 metal cap shells; The AD584J and AD584K are also available in 8-lead PDIP packages.
