AD581It is a three-pin, temperature-compensated, single-chip bandgap
Voltage reference, a precision 10.00 V output can be provided with an unregulated input level of 12 V to 30 V. The device uses laser wafer trimming (LWT) technology to adjust the initial error and temperature coefficient at +25°C, resulting in high-precision performance previously only available with expensive mixing products or oven conditioning modules. The AD581L is a monolithic reference with an initial error of 5 mV and a guaranteed temperature coefficient of 5 ppm/°C.
The bandgap circuit design of the AD581 offers several advantages over traditional Zener breakdown diode technology. The most important of these is the ability to achieve full accuracy without external components and significantly improve the stability of low-power systems. In addition, the total supply current of the device is typically 750 μA, including the output buffer amplifier, which can deliver up to 10 mA. The long-term stability of this bandgap design is comparable to that of select Zener reference diodes.
The AD581 is recommended as a reference for 8-, 10-, or 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that require an external precision reference. The device is also ideal for all types of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) up to 14-bit accuracy, whether successively approximate or integrated, and often outperforms standard stand-alone references.
The AD581J/K/L is specified over the 0°C to +70°C temperature range and the AD581S/T/U is -55°C to +125°C. All grades are available in a hermetically sealed three-pin TO-5 metal cap shell package.
