The AD8155 is a protocol-independent, asynchronous, dual 2:1 switch with six differential CML inputs and six differential CML outputs. The signal path supports NRZ signaling with data rates up to 6.5 Gbps per lane. Each channel provides programmable receive equalization, programmable output pre-emphasis, programmable output level, and loss-of-signal detection.
The AD8155 uses a nonblocking switching core with a 2:1 multiplexer and a 1:2 on each channelDemultiplexer, and independent channel switches are supported through two select pins SEL [1:0]. Each port is a dual-channel link. Each channel uses an asynchronous path and supports NRZ data rates from DC to 6.5 Gbps; The channels are independent of each other. The AD8155 features low latency and very low channel-to-channel skew.
The AD8155 is primarily designed to support backplane side and line interface side redundancy of serial links. The demultiplexed path has unicast and bicast capabilities, so the device supports 1+1 or 1:1 redundancy.
The AD8155 is capable of replicating input data and is also suitable for testing high speed serial links. In port monitoring applications,AD8155A pass-through connection from port C to port A can be utilized to keep the link connected while sending a copy of the data to the test device on port B.
The AD8155 is feature-rich and can be controlled either through an external switch pin or through I2The C interface is controlled by setting an on-chip control register.
