The AD8420 is a low cost, wide supply voltage rangeamplifierWith two resistors, the gain can be set to any value between 1 and 1000. The device is optimized for amplifying large and small differential voltages in the presence of large common-mode signals.
The AD8420 is based on a current mode architecture with excellent input common-mode range. Unlike conventional instrumentation amplifiers, the AD8420 can easily amplify signals at or slightly below ground without dual supplies. The AD8420 has a full range rail-to-rail output with an output voltage that is completely independent of the input common-mode voltage.
The AD8420 operates from either single or dual supplies. The device is ideal for portable systems with limited single supplies and systems operating from larger dual supplies. The gain is set by the ratio of the two resistors. The user can use the reference pin to offset the output voltage, which is useful when the output signal needs to be centered on a specific voltage, such as an intermediate supply voltage.
The AD8420 is available in an 8-lead MSOP package and is specified for guaranteed performance over the −40°C to +85°C temperature range, while the device operates over the −40°C to +125°C temperature range.
