ADE7953 Single-phase multifunction metering IC with neutral current measurement
ADE7953 is a high-precision energy metering IC primarily used in single-phase applications. It is capable of measuring line voltage and current, and calculating active, reactive, apparent power, and instantaneous root mean square voltage and current.
The device has three sigma-delta ADCs and a high-precision energy metering core. The third input channel can measure the neutral current at the same time, and supports theft detection and neutral current billing. Additional channels integrate a complete signal path, allowing a wide range of measurements to be performed. Each input channel supports independent and flexible gain stages, making the device suitable for use with a variety of current sensors, such as current transformers (CTs) and low-resistance shunt resistors. Two on-chip integrators facilitate the use of Roche coil sensors.
ADE7953 can access on-chip metrology registers, including SPI, I2C, and UART, through a variety of communication interfaces. Two configurable low-jitter pulse output pins provide outputs proportional to active, reactive, or apparent power and the root mean square values of current and voltage. Comprehensive power quality information such as overcurrent, overvoltage, peak, and dip detection is available through external IRQ pins. The device includes independent active, reactive, and apparent no-load detection functions to prevent meter "creeping". Dedicated reverse power supply (REVP), zero-to-zero (ZX), and zero-crossing current (ZX-I) pins are also available. ADE7953 energy metering ICs operate from a 3.3V supply and are available in a 28-pin LFCSP package.
