The LM48311 is a single-supply, high efficiency, mono, 2.6W, filter-free switching audio amplifier. Enhanced LM48311 function of national emission suppression (E 2 S) System, i.e. boasting a unique patent-pending ultra-low EMI, spread spectrum PWM structure that significantly reduces RF emissions while preserving audio quality and efficiency. The LM48311 is designed to meet the needs of portable multimedia devices. The device operates from a single 5V supply and is capable of delivering less than 10% THD+N of 2.6W of continuous output power into a 4Ω load Flexible power requirements allow operation from 2.4V to 5.5V. The LM48311 features a spread spectrum modulation scheme, as well as an advanced, patented Edge Rate Control (ERC) architecture that significantly reduces emissions while maintaining high quality audio reproduction (THD + N = 0.03%) and high efficiency (η = 88%).
The LM48311 features higher efficiency than traditional Class AB amplifiers, and other low EMI Class D amplifiers. When driving an 8Ω speaker and from a 5V power supply, the device operates efficiently as88%PO = 1W 。 The LM48311 has an internally programmed gain of 6dB, further reducing external component count. A low-power shutdown mode reduces supply current consumption by 0.01μA.
Advanced auto-recovery output short-circuit protection prevents damage to equipment under fault conditions. Advanced click suppression eliminates power-up/down and audible transient noise when off.
