LTC1384ISW
5V Low Power RS - 232 Transceiver 2 Receive Active in Off
peculiarity
- Available from a single 5V supply
- Low supply current: ICC = 220μA
- ICC = 35μA for both receivers in shutdown mode, even more
- Over ± 10kV ESD protection
- Use a small capacitor: 0.1μF
- Operates to 120kBaud
- Output overvoltage does not force the supply current to flow back
- RS232 I/O line can force ± 25V without damage
- Pin compatible with the LT1180A
description
The LTC™1384 is an ultralow power 2-driver/2-receiver RS232 transceiver operating from a single 5V supply. The charge pump requires only four 0.1μF capacitors to save space.
The transceiver operates in two modes, normal and off. In normal mode, the ICC with offloaded driver output is only 220μA. In shutdown, the charge pump shuts down, the driver output is forced into tri-state, and both receivers remain active and ICC drops to 35μA. The receiver output may be forced to be tri-state, using the receive enable pin (RX EN) at any time.
The LTC1384 is fully compatible with all data rates and overvoltage RS-232 specifications. The transceiver can operate up to 120kbaud into a 2500pF, 3KΩ load. Two driver outputs and receiver inputs, which can be forced up to 25V without damage, are able to withstand multiple ± 10kV ESD shocks.
