The LMH0303 3 Gbps HD/SD SDI cable inspection cable driver is designed for serial digital video applications of SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 344M, SMPTE 259M. The LMH0303 drives 75Ω transmission lines (Belden 1694A, Belden 8281, or equivalent) with data rates up to 2.97 Gbps.
The LMH0303 includes an intelligent sensing function that improves the diagnosis of the system. The cable detection feature is terminated near the end of the year to determine if the output BNC cable is properly connected. Loss-of-Input Signal (LOS) detects the cable driver and enters a valid signal. These sensing functions, which can be used to alert the user to system faults and activate power-saving modes for acute power, reduce the power consumption of cable drivers to 4 megawatts. These functions are accessed through the SMBus interface.
The LMH0303 offers SMPTE 259M and SMPTE 424M/292M with two selectable conversion rates. The output amplitude is adjustable ± 10% of the SMBus in 5 mV steps.
The LMH0303 operates from a single 3.3V supply. Power consumption is typically 155 MW and 130 MW in SD mode and HD mode. The LMH0303 is available in a 16-pin LLP package.
