The AD8156 is part of the Xstream family of products and is a high-speed, fully differential digital crosspoint switch. The device can be used as a 4×4 crosspoint switch with dual latching memory that allows for simultaneous updates; Or as a two-channel 2×2 crossover switch with direct output control. In addition, it has low power consumption; Typical power consumption is 700 mW when powered from a 3.3 V supply and all output and input equalizers remain active. It can operate at any data rate in the DC to 6.25 Gbps (per port) range.
The AD8156 has a programmable input equalizer built into each input channel to compensate for backplane signal loss.
The AD8156's high-speed inputs are compatible with AC and DC coupled 3.3 V, 2.5 V, or 1.8 V CML, as well as 3.3 V LVPECL data levels. The control interface is LVTTL and LVCMOS compatible (3.3 V). To simplify the layout and minimize impedance mismatch, the device also integrates all necessary input and output termination resistors. The input equalizer and unused outputs can be disabled individually, minimizing power consumption.
The AD8156 is available in a 49-pin, 8 mm × 8 mm BGA package with 1 mm pin pitch; The operating temperature range is −40°C to 85°C industrial temperature range.
