illustrate
The LM118 series of precision high speed op amps for applications requiring high bandwidth and high slew rate designs. They are characterized by a speed of more than ten without sacrificing DC performance, a universal device factor.
Internal gain frequency compensation for the LM118 series. This greatly simplifies its application, as it is necessary for operation without external components. However, as with most internally compensated amplifiers, external frequency compensation may be increased for optimal performance. For inverting applications, feed-forward compensation increases the conversion rate to 150V/μs and nearly doubles the bandwidth. Overcompensation can use a more stable maximum bandwidth without the need for an amplifier. In addition, a capacitor can be added to reduce the settling time in 1 microsecond by 0.1%.
The time to set up these op amps at high speeds and quickly makes them useful in A/D converters, oscillators, active filters, sample-and-hold circuits, or general-purpose amplifiers. These devices are easy to apply and provide better AC performance of an order of magnitude or more, such as the LM709 industry standard.
The LM218 LM118 is the same, except that the LM218 has its performance over the -25°C to +85°C temperature range. The LM318 is specified from 0°C to +70°C.
