The UC1854 provides an active power supply system that would otherwise draw a sinusoidal power line for non-sinusoidal current factor correction. The device implements all the necessary control functions to establish a power supply that makes optimal use of existing power line currents while minimizing the ability to mistort line currents. To do this, the UC1854 contains a voltage amplifier, analog multiplier/divider, current amplifier, and fixed-frequency PWM. In addition, the UC1854 contains a power MOSFET gate driver compatible, 7.5V reference line estimator, load, enable comparator, low supply detector, and overcurrent comparator.
The UC1854 uses an average current control mode to achieve fixed frequency stabilization and low distortion current control.
