The A8450 is a multi-output power supply for automotive applications. The A8450 has a wide input supply range and is designed for applications with high ambient temperatures.
Four regulated outputs provide multiple options. 3.3 voltsVoltage regulatorand 1.2 to 3.3 volt adjustable regulators can be used to power microcontrollers or DSP cores, or for I/O, sensing, and A-to-D conversion. Two 5 volt outputs, one digital and one analog, can be output tracked over the operating temperature range to ensure that the error does not exceed 0.5% of each other. In addition, the analog regulator is immune to short-circuit batteries. All four regulators provide monitor current limit protection.
Two input pins can be used to enable or disable the device. The high voltage input on the ENBAT pin can be enabled/disabled using engine ignition or battery switch signals. Logic-level inputs on the ENB pin allow microcontroller or DSP signals to be enabled/disabled.
When disabled, the A8450 draws less than 10 μA. A POR (Power-On Reset) downconverter monitors the supply voltage and provides a reset signal with an adjustable delay for microcontroller or DSP reset. Independent fault pins signal TSD (overtemperature power down), 5 volt analog supply short circuit, and 5 volt analog or digital undervoltage signals.
The A8450 is available in a 24-pin SOIC package (designation suffix LB) with a protected power ground pin for enhanced thermal performance. This will provide RθJA at 35°C/W on a 4-layer board.
