illustrate
The DS36276 is used on a trouble-proof multipoint transceiver design for bidirectional differential buses. It is compatible with existing TIA/EIA-485 transceivers, however, it provides an additional feature that is not supported by standard transceivers.
The fail-safe feature ensures that the receiver outputs to a known state when the interface is in the following conditions: floating, idle (inactive driver), and line fault conditions (open or short). The receiver output is in the high state for the following conditions: input open, terminated input (50 ohms), and shorted input.
FailSafe is a very desirable feature when transceivers such as a UART asynchronous controller.
