LTC®The 4071 enables simple charging of Li-Ion/Li-Polymer batteries from very low current, intermittent or continuous charging sources. The device features a near-zero current low-battery lockout disconnect, which protects even very low capacity batteries from deep discharge and potentially irreparable damage. The 550nA to 50mA operating current allows charging from a previously unavailable power supply. With its low operating current, the LTC4071 is ideal for charging low capacity Li-Ion or thin-film batteries in energy harvesting applications. The LTC4071's unique architecture results in an extremely simple battery charger solution; Only one external resistor is required.
The LTC4071 provides a pin-selectable float voltage with ±1% accuracy. By automatically reducing the battery float voltage when the NTC thermistor temperature is above 40°C, the device's integrated battery heat detector extends battery life and improves reliability. The LTC4071 also provides two pin-selectable low battery disconnect levels and a high battery state output.
The device is available in two thermally enhanced packages, a compact low profile (only 0.75mm height) 8-pin (2mm x 3mm) DFN package, and an 8-pin MSOP package.
