• description

  The LTC®4065L is a complete constant current/constant voltage linear charger for single-cell lithium-ion batteries. The small form factor and ability to accurately regulate low charging currents make LTC4065L particularly suitable for applications with low-capacity rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. And, LTC4065L is specifically designed to work within USB power specifications.

  When the charging current drops to 10% of its setpoint (C/10), the CHRG pin will emit an indication signal. An internal timer terminates the charging operation according to the product specifications provided by the battery manufacturer.

  The LTC4065L-4.1 has a constant floating voltage of 4.1V. The 4.1V version of this standard LTC4065L is intended for backup or high ambient temperature applications. Under these conditions, the reduced floating voltage will sacrifice the initial battery capacity in exchange for increased capacity retention over the life of the battery. In addition, reducing the floating voltage minimizes expansion in prismatic and polymer cells.

  When the input power supply (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, the LTC4065L automatically enters a low-current state and reduces the battery leakage current to less than 1μA. The LTC4065L can be put into shutdown mode with a power supply applied, reducing the supply current to less than 20μA.

  The full-featured LTC4065L also includes automatic recharging, low battery charge regulation (trickle charging), and soft start (to limit inrush current).
