The LTC ® 1430 is a high power, high efficiency switching regulator controller optimized for 5V 3.xV applications. It includes an accurate internal reference and internal feedback system that provides output regulation of ± 1% with temperature, load current, and line voltage. The LTC1430 uses a synchronous switching architecture with two N-channel output devices, eliminating the need for high power, high cost P-channel devices. In addition, it senses that the output current passes through the drain-to-source resistor of the upper N-channel FET, providing an adjustable current limit without the need for an external low-value sense resistor.
The LTC1430 includes a fixed frequency PWM oscillator with low output ripple under almost all operating conditions. The free-running clock frequency at 200kHz can be externally adjusted from 100kHz to 500kHz as described above. The LTC1430 features a low quiescent current of 350μA, with output current from 1A to 50A greater than allowing greater than 90% operation in converter designs. The shutdown mode drops the LTC1430 supply current to 1μA.
